3rd Floor

The third and final common floor is where the crux of the sense of community within the building lies.

Cooking and eating together is a huge part of Hong Kong and chinese culture, and plays a crucial part in bonding between family, friends, or even stranger. The community kitchen and dinning table is dedicated to building relationships via the act of cooking and eating.

The indoor park provides a space for movement, fun and engagment. While the yoga room is an uncoommon feature in an apartment building, it was imparitive to provide a more elevated experience to the tenant, hence the decision to incluse it.

Community Dinning Room

Warm shades of bamboo, accompanied by the texture of the floor tiles creates a calm serene environment in the community kitchen. The two kitchen isle is a play on the pattern created by the cabinetry, and the floor tiles, and plays on the idea of order.

Drawers on one side, designed to store smaller items such as seasoning, kitchen utensils, towels, and flat items, and directly overlooks the street outside. On the other side, larger cabinets dedicated towards larger kitchen related items such as pots, pans, blenders and other kitchen cleaning items.

Kitchen hood fans helps ventilate the space and prevents the space from accumulating grease and grime. Stainless steel counter-tops designed to age with ware is easy to clean and maintain.

Large screen doors leads to the balcony, and draws in a significant amount of sunlight. The arrangment of mullions drraws inspiration from Japanese screen doors. The screendoors fully open and allows for the indoorspace to fully connect with the outdoor space.

Indoor Park

The corridor connects the elevator to the rest of the space - community room, yoga space, as well as an indoor park, where children and parents can play whilst being indoors.

Storage shelves store communal items such as toys, sports equipment, and other items; and encourages shared items and a more wholesome approach to items used by different people.

The park itself is a place of refuge from the outdoors, parks are a large part of the local identity, children play there after school, senior citizens exercises in the morning, and gathers with their friends. By offering an indoor park, residents are given place to go when the outdoor weather do not allow, giving the opportunity to do the same activities, indoors.
